About the unit In this unit the teacher will be shown how to use a range of recorded materials demonstrating authentic English speech in order to improve their students’ listening skills Who is it suitable for? It is meant for the inexperienced and/or untrained teacher who has few resources except his/her voice and easily found materials e.g. pictures from magazines. It is suitable for teachers of students who are beginning to learn English. Who is it not suitable for? It is not meant for highly qualified or experienced teachers of English. It is not recommended for those teaching in a well-resourced school or college where audio visual aids are in abundance. It is not intended for those teaching advanced learners although the basic principles apply in any language-teaching situation. What can a teacher learn from this unit? The teacher will learn how to prepare students for a listening exercise, present and practice the language and then follow up the lesson with reinforcing activities.
