Teaching English as a Foreign Language
About the unit
In this unit the inexperienced teacher will learn how to select language items to be taught and how to organise a class so that each student gets meaningful oral practice.
Who is it suitable for?
It is meant for the inexperienced and/or untrained teacher who has few resources except his/her voice and easily found materials e.g. pictures from magazines. It is suitable for teachers of students who are beginning to learn English.
Who is it not suitable for?
It is not meant for highly qualified or experienced teachers of English. It is not recommended for those teaching in a well-resourced school or college where audio visual aids are in abundance. It is not intended for those teaching advanced learners although the basic principles apply in any language-teaching situation.
What can a teacher learn from this unit?
The teacher will learn how to prepare for a speech lesson and organise the class to achieve maximum practice for every student.
