Teaching English as a Foreign Language
About the unit
This unit will suggest suitable games and activities to use in a class situation. It will indicate if resources are required and the number of students who can be involved. It also shows how a lesson can be fun without having to purchase expensive materials.
Who is it suitable for?
It is meant for the inexperienced and/or untrained teacher who has few resources except his/her voice and easily found materials e.g. pictures from magazines. It is suitable for teachers of students who are beginning to learn English.
Who is it not suitable for?
It is not meant for highly qualified or experienced teachers of English. It is not recommended for those teaching in a well-resourced school or college where audio visual aids are in abundance. It is not intended for those teaching advanced learners although the basic principles apply in any language-teaching situation.
What can a teacher learn from this unit?
The inexperienced teacher will acquire the basic skills to introduce games in a class without losing control of the activity. He/she will also discover how to use activities to practise English in an informal setting.
